Experience & Qualifications



Desirée (she/her) spent ten years teaching in schools around Winnipeg's core, but she began her career in education and teaching in rural schools. She was also born, raised, and still lives in a community outside of Winnipeg. This gives her a unique perspective on classroom realities throughout Manitoba. As president of the DSFM's teachers' association, AÉFM, she has gained valuable experience in the labour world.

  • Currently a member of the Provincial Bargaining Team - Francophone Table
  • Taught in French and French Immersion Programs
  • Completed MTS Labour School
  • Currently furthering her education at Université de St-Boniface
  • Prior to serving as association president, Desirée was proud to serve as association Vice President and PD Chair
  • Creator of educational ressources for the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre
  • Taught in the International Baccalaureate Program
  • Leader of English Department PLC
  • Trained in mental health first aid, suicide prevention, and dismantling racism
  • Experience working for the Province of Manitoba and PISA in assessment
  • Active community member who believes in service through volunteer work at the Winnipeg Fringe Festival, a local youth centre, and other festivals in Manitoba
  • A proud mother of a child enrolled in a Manitoba public school
